Compare the actual clinic and treatment plan

Choosing between treatment in Denmark and Turkey involves more than a headline price. Ask the same questions of every provider: who will assess you, where treatment takes place, who performs each stage and who is responsible for your care afterwards.

A country name, hotel package or method label cannot establish the quality of an individual procedure. Obtain the clinician’s full name, relevant registration details and the treatment address before agreeing to surgery.

Start with suitability and donor supply

The assessment should consider the cause and progression of your hair loss, medical history, existing hair, recipient area and donor supply. Ask why surgery is appropriate, what it can realistically achieve and what alternatives should be considered.

Check registration for the place of treatment

For Denmark, the Danish Patient Safety Authority provides the authorization register. For Turkey, ask the provider for the relevant clinician and facility details and verify them with the responsible local authority. A registration or membership from another country is not proof of permission to perform a particular treatment at that address.

Ask how responsibility is shared across the team. You should know who makes the clinical decisions, performs each surgical stage and handles concerns. Neither a low price nor a high price answers those questions.

Compare the total cost in the same currency

A travel package can make logistics easier, but check exactly what it covers. Ask whether extra nights or an appointment change would be charged and what happens if the clinician decides surgery is unsuitable.

Plan aftercare before booking travel

Confirm how long the treating team wants you to remain nearby and when you may travel. Ask who will examine you if an unexpected symptom develops after you return home. Remote photographs can support follow-up, but some concerns need an in-person assessment.

For patients based in Denmark, appointments in Copenhagen may be easier to reach than a return trip abroad. The practical benefit depends on your location and the actual follow-up service offered. Patients from Sweden and Norway should make the same travel and review checks.

Understand insurance and patient rights

The Danish Patient Safety Authority advises patients considering surgery abroad to investigate their treatment arrangements and rights, including what happens if something goes wrong. Read its guidance on surgery abroad before committing.

Ask your insurer about the exact planned treatment, complications and any further travel. Do not assume ordinary travel insurance or an EHIC funds a private procedure. Get any funding decision in writing and confirm which country’s complaints process applies.

Read photographs and reviews in context

Ask where the cases were treated, the method used and the time between photographs. Look for consistent lighting and hair length, and ask about medication or additional procedures. A selected case cannot guarantee your result.
