Considering hair transplant treatment from Sweden

There is no single pattern of hair loss. For one person the first change is a deeper temple; for another it is reduced coverage through the crown or a general loss of density across the top. Identifying that pattern is important because it shapes the design, the distribution of grafts and the amount of donor hair that should be held back for later years.

During assessment, the surgeon checks the scalp rather than relying on photographs alone. Donor density, hair calibre, the size of the proposed treatment area and signs of continuing loss all affect the recommendation. Medical history, medication and the patient’s expectations are discussed as well. Surgery should only go ahead when the likely benefit justifies using a limited donor supply.

Treatment may involve FUE hair transplantation, DHI placement or FUT surgery. We also assess patients seeking work on the hairline, crown, beard or eyebrows. The choice is made from the clinical findings, not from a one-size-fits-all package.

Considering Copenhagen for patients from Sweden

Choosing a clinic is not simply a matter of finding the shortest journey. A result can be affected by hairline planning, the angle of each implanted follicle and how conservatively the donor area is used. Those decisions matter long after the initial redness and short-term healing have settled.

A patient travelling from Sweden can use the consultation to question the proposed design and understand what the available grafts can reasonably cover. It is also the time to discuss method, expected density, cost, recovery and aftercare. If the donor area is weak or the requested result is unrealistic, that needs to be clear before any booking is made.

Travel can be organised in more than one way. You may prefer an assessment first and a second visit for surgery, or you may ask whether suitable appointments can be placed close together. Once the treatment length is known, the team can help you plan transport and decide whether staying locally is sensible.

Treatments to discuss during your consultation

FUE hair transplant

With FUE, follicular units are taken one at a time from the back and sides of the scalp using a small circular punch. They are then inspected and placed into the planned recipient sites. The technique avoids a strip incision, but it does not mean scar-free surgery: tiny dot scars remain at the extraction points. See how FUE works.

DHI hair transplant

DHI describes a placement approach rather than a different way of harvesting the grafts. Follicles are still individually extracted, then loaded into an implanter so the surgeon can control insertion into the receiving area. Whether that offers an advantage depends on the hair already present and the design being created. Explore the DHI method.

FUT hair transplant

FUT begins with the removal of a slim strip of scalp from the donor zone. Under magnification, the strip is separated into individual follicular units for implantation. A linear scar is left behind, so the technique tends to suit people who are comfortable keeping enough length at the back to cover it. Learn about FUT surgery.

Beard and eyebrow transplants

Scalp follicles may also be transplanted into gaps in the beard or areas of missing eyebrow hair. Because facial and brow hairs sit at very shallow, specific angles, the plan has to account for direction as well as coverage. The assessment establishes whether enough suitable donor hair is available and what scale of improvement is achievable.

Working out a sensible graft number

Graft estimates depend on the surface area being treated, the density that remains and the reserves at the back and sides. A limited frontal recession may be planned at roughly 1,500 to 2,500 grafts, whereas work extending through the mid-scalp or crown can move beyond 3,000. These are broad examples, not targets; taking more grafts is not better when the donor area cannot support it.

A reliable figure can only be given after the scalp has been examined and the priorities agreed. Once the surgeon has outlined the area, density and method, the clinic can explain the price attached to that plan. Book your consultation

Planning your journey from Sweden

Your starting point makes a difference to the practical arrangements. Patients in southern Sweden may compare rail and road travel, while those farther north may need a longer journey and accommodation. Agree the clinical schedule first, including any necessary return visits.

Cross-border rail travel

Öresundståg connects Malmö and other southern Swedish cities with Copenhagen. Consult the operator’s current routes and timetables and check your full journey for the appointment date. Treatment, travel and accommodation costs should be budgeted separately.

Recovery and follow-up

Before treatment, agree how follow-up will work after you return home, who to contact with concerns and when further in-person review may be needed. The clinician should advise when it is appropriate to travel after the proposed procedure.

Frequently asked questions

Is travelling from Sweden worthwhile?

Distance alone cannot answer that. Compare the surgeon’s experience, the quality of the proposed plan and how honestly the limitations of your donor area are explained. The assessment gives you the information needed to decide whether the trip makes sense for you.

Can assessment and surgery happen during one visit?

It may be possible to place appointments close together, but availability and clinical suitability have to be established first. Speak to the team before booking transport so they can explain what must happen before a treatment date is confirmed.

Do you have a consultation address in Sweden?

Our consultation address is Frederiksborggade 15, 1358 København, Denmark. This page is for patients living in Sweden who are considering an appointment in Copenhagen.

Should I return home immediately after treatment?

Plan this with the clinic rather than making assumptions in advance. The duration of the procedure, the aftercare instructions and how you intend to travel all matter when deciding between returning home and staying in Copenhagen.

How is the right technique selected?

FUE, DHI and FUT each have different practical considerations. Donor characteristics, the size of the receiving area, hairstyle and the surgeon’s plan determine which approach is appropriate; there is no universal best method.

Does travelling from Sweden change the price?

The treatment price is based on the agreed procedure and graft requirement, not the patient’s home city. Travel and accommodation are separate personal expenses. A confirmed quote is provided after assessment rather than estimated from distance alone.
