Case details
Ryan was treated for male-pattern hair loss affecting the front of the scalp. His procedure focused on rebuilding the receding hairline.
Your treatment price follows an individual assessment. Ask for a written quotation in Danish kroner (DKK) based on your donor hair, treatment area, graft requirement and recommended procedure.
A useful comparison covers the whole treatment plan: who performs the procedure, where it takes place, what aftercare is included and which costs are separate.

Treatment DHI
Timescale Around 13 months
Grafts 2,000
Area Crown

Grafts 1,650
Area Mid-scalp
Helen’s treatment addressed mid-scalp hair loss associated with scarring alopecia. Planning took account of the affected area and her available donor hair.

Treatment FUE

Grafts 3,500
Areas Crown and hairline
Danny required treatment at the hairline and crown. His grafts were divided between both areas according to the planned coverage and available donor supply.

The number of grafts has the greatest effect on the price, but it is not the only part of the calculation. A quote also has to account for the size of the treatment area, the quality of the donor hair, the procedure being used and the amount of surgical time required.
Restoring a small section of the hairline or filling the temple points requires fewer grafts than treating the complete frontal area. When hair loss extends through the mid-scalp or into the crown, more grafts and surgical time are normally required.
Crown work is planned differently from a frontal hairline because the grafts must follow the direction of the natural whorl. If the hairline and crown both require treatment, the available donor hair has to be divided carefully between them.
Donor density determines how many follicular units can be removed without leaving the back or sides of the scalp visibly depleted. Hair thickness, curl and colour contrast also affect the amount of coverage that can be created with a given number of grafts.
This is why photographs can support an initial estimate but cannot replace a proper donor-area assessment. The final plan must be based on the hair that can be removed safely, rather than the number of grafts a patient would simply like to have.
FUE, FUT and DHI involve different extraction, preparation and placement techniques. Surgical time, graft preparation and the clinical team all affect the quotation. The recommended method should follow your clinical assessment.
An unshaven or partially shaven procedure also takes longer than a fully shaven transplant. These procedures are generally limited to around 2,000 grafts in one session because each follicular unit has to be worked around the existing hair.
Extensive hair loss does not always need to be treated in a single operation. A larger case can be divided into separate stages so the donor area is protected and the areas that matter most are treated first.
The consultation is used to agree the treatment priorities, likely graft requirement and procedure before a written price is issued. You can also read our hair transplant donor-area guide for more information about donor assessment.
Your quotation should explain the recommended method and why it suits your donor area and treatment goals.
Individual follicular units are extracted and placed into the planned recipient area. The number of grafts and the time needed for extraction and placement affect the price. Read about FUE.
A strip of donor scalp is removed and the grafts are separated under magnification. Ask how donor closure, graft preparation and follow-up are covered in your quotation. Read about FUT.
Placement technique, the area being treated and the detail required influence surgical time. Ask for the cost of the specific procedure recommended for you.
If a partly unshaven approach or more than one session is suggested, request the price for each stage and the expected total. Confirm what happens if the treatment plan changes.
